Consumer Education is a required class for all seniors. Students will study multiple topics which will enhance their lives and provide them with valuable knowledge to carry with them through life.
topics which will be covered include: ~ Consumer buying - rights, and responsiblities ~ Careers - including how to apply for a job, resumes, interviews ~ Taxes - payroll, how to file a tax return, type of taxes (ex: estate taxes), how taxes are collected, government spending ~ Banking - how banks work, checking accounts and other types of accounts, how to use a checking account, electronic banking ~ Planning for financial securtiy - saving, types of bonds, interest ~ Investing - types of corporate stocks and how they work, earning returns, mutual funds, researching investments, investment schemes, investment regulation, retirement, investment clubs ~ Credit - when to use, credit ratings, types of consumer borrowing, sources of borrowing, credit cards, maintaining a good credit rating ~ Housing - options, advantages/disadvantages, how to buy a home, how to rent
